The liver is one of the most essential organs of our body. It has a complex vascular structure. The two prominent veins, which we call the portal vein and the hepatic artery, provide nutrition to the liver. Three central veins, which we call the hepatic veins, evacuate this blood coming to the liver through these veins towards the heart. When there are many tumors in the liver, it becomes essential to perform the surgery by protecting these vessels. Having such a widespread vascular network in the liver complicates the surgery. Especially when there are many tumors, protecting these vessels is essential in protecting the maximum liver tissue in the patient and minimizing the risk of liver failure. The method that helps and guides us the most during the operation is ultrasonography and the surgeon's experience. In this way, it becomes possible to perform this surgery without damaging the vessels by removing only the tumor tissues and preserving the maximum liver tissue in the patient.
